Preparation of the room
There was a carpet in the room. Allison ripped it up and pulled it up with some plies. She started in a corner.
It was not such a difficult job because she used plies and a screwdriver when needed. At first Allison cut the carpet into three smaller strips with an utility knife and rolled it up that way.
Next the nasty foam underlay came out and she had to pry up all of the tack strips the carpet had been attached to around the perimeter of the room.
