I hated the big blank space over my stairway.
I have the most perfect spot to relax and sip my coffee each morning upstairs on my landing. Out the window my view is a gorgeous windmill, a stone root cellar, and old barns. I can see down the stairs into our beautiful foyer. But that empty wall over the stairs… It was a big wall staring blankly at me each morning! I needed some wall candy!
This garden love seat is made
using pine slats and marine plywood supports. Once sealed there’s no reason why the bench shouldn’t last a lifetime with regular care and maintenance.
If you prefer not to use pine you can use almost any hardwood to make the slat garden love seat.

I wasn’t really too concerned at first about fixing
up our yard since… well, we are in the country after all. But after two puppies and a crazy rainy season in California… I definitely changed my mind. I wanted a grassy area in the back and side of the house so that when the dogs come in from the rain, their muddy paws would have a chance to be wiped off. And our mostly dirt road was really muddy during the rain! So we decided to gravel it up.
